How to apply powder eyeshadow
Powders, story of love and hate. Worry of every make up. Here is our tutorial to find out how to best apply powder eyeshadow.
Powders are a great ally for very strong make up, but at the same time they can become a great enemy if we are beginners and want to try our hand at make-up that goes beyond the usual shade.
Especially when we want to recreate a smokey look or a really impressive make up. You can't joke with powders: once applied, if you make a mistake, correcting them becomes almost impossible. Eyeshadow is certainly one of the most popular powder cosmetics. Because even if it is not very practical, it is capable of giving an almost professional effect. Precisely for this reason it would be a real shame not to use it just because we are beginners with this cosmetic. The first thing to do then is to choose one that goes well with your style: remember, however, if we stick to neutral colors, we can slowly get the hang of it and gradually increase the intensity of the colors.
How to spread it?
Speaking as a make up artist, I strongly advise against using your fingers. Choose a good brush, or rather more than one. Basically we can start with two: one will be used for applying the product and the other for blending. The eye area is a very delicate and sensitive area: therefore always choose brushes with soft bristles, without forgetting how you want to use them.
Now let's move on to the application.
As for the face, the light-dark rule is also followed for the eyeshadows. Thus we will highlight the areas to be accentuated and with the darker colors we will give depth to the look. Generally speaking, light colors are best applied on the mobile eyelid, under the eyebrow arch and in the internal corner, while dark colors are best applied along the crease of the eye and in the external corner. The important thing is that all the colors blend well with each other in order to create continuity and not a gap between the various colors. The result must always be uniform!
The password for the application is TAP. To best apply the powder eyeshadow, it is a good idea to press it onto the area to be colored with small movements, recreating a tapping sound, precisely because in this way it is easier to recreate a deep and uniform effect. With light movements, pat the powder, without ever reaching the base of the eyebrows. Don't forget, however, that even if you have become good at applying eyeshadow, there are some precautions not to be overlooked.
First of all, it's always a good idea to keep your eyeshadow container clean. The dust is volatile and often settles along the edges: it only takes a moment for it to fly away and dirty all the work done. Secondly, to increase the duration of the eyeshadow we can first apply an eye primer: in addition to maintaining the duration of the work, it also guarantees an excellent base on which to work.
Third, to make the powder adhere better and have a stronger result, you can moisten the brush. There are "wet & dry" eyeshadows on the market that can be used both dry and wet. With the brush dampened, it will be easier to pick up the dust and more difficult for it to spread everywhere.
